Skin Tag Removal
What are skin tags?
Skin tags are benign - non cancerous – growth raised from the skin on fleshy peduncles which cause no symptoms, unless it is repeatedly rubbed or scratched, as may happen with clothing, jewelry, or when shaving. Very large skin tags may burst under pressure.
Skin tags are composed of a core of fibers and ducts, nerve cells, fat cells, and a covering or epidermis.
Some people inherit an increased susceptibility to skin tags. Being obese or overweight or diabetic also increase the chance of developing this skin anomaly. Skin tags affect people of all genders equally.
Some people may have had skin tags and never noticed them - they would have rubbed or fallen off painlessly. In most cases, however, they do not fall off.
The surface of skin tags may be smooth or irregular in appearance, they are often raised from the surface of the skin with fleshy peduncles. They are usually flesh-colored or slightly brownish. Initially they are quite small, flattened like a pinhead bump. Skin tags can range in diameter from 2mm to 1cm; some may even reach 5cm.
As skin tags more commonly occur in skin creases or fold, it is believed they are mainly distribute by skin rubbing against skin.
What causes skin tags?
Skin tags are very common and generally occur after midlife. They are said to be caused by bunches of collagen and blood vessels which are trapped inside thicker bits of skin.
They are believed to be the result of skin rubbing against skin. That is why they are generally found in skin creases and folds.
Skin tag removal / treatment
As skin tags are usually harmless, people tend to have them removed for aesthetic or cosmetic reasons.
Sometimes large ones, especially in areas where they may rub against something clothing, jewelry or skin, may be removed because the area becomes frequently irritated. An individual may have a large skin tag removed from his face or under her arms in order to make shaving easier.
In Tulip Laser Clinic we treat Skin tags by Electro-coagulation.
Electro-coagulation is an exciting new skin care procedure that permanently eliminates skin blemishes in as little as one to three appointments. It’s a non-invasive procedure that can effectively treat Skin tags and many other unpleasant and unsightly skin conditions.
Mechanism of action is usage of a mild electrical current to coagulate a distended (swollen) capillary. The treatment is also known as thermo-coagulation – a regimen that is safe, effective, and non-invasive. It only touches the surface of the skin.
Thermo-coagulation treats the dilated section of a capillary, causing the blood in the capillary to “solidify”. While the blood flow is interrupted throughout the treated section, it is actually re-directed into capillaries that are nearby. Healing is quite quick, occurring within 3-5 days of treatment.
The Electro-coagulation procedure does not leave scar tissue on the epidermal surface, and in most cases, any post-treatment scabbing will be unnoticeable. Skin reactions after a treatment are minimal, if any. But most important, the procedure is completely safe – using tips that are disposable and sterile.
In addition to skin tag in Tulip Laser Clinic we are able to treat other unpleasant and unsightly skin conditions like;
